The Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism held its 14th Plenary Meeting on 15-16 November 2022.
Azer Abbasov, representative of the FMS took part in the meeting as a member of the bureau of the Conference of the Parties, as well as the head of the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mehman Aliyev, another member of the FMS spoke at the meeting and presented the horizontal assessment report of member countries. The submitted report was adopted by the Conference of the Parties at the end of the meeting.
Note that the CETS 198 Convention was signed on May 16, 2005 in Warsaw. The primary focus of the mentioned Convention includes the promotion of international cooperation and mutual assistance in the investigation of crimes and the search, tracing, discovery, freezing, arrest and confiscation of property derived from these criminal activities. The Republic of Azerbaijan ratified the CETS 198 Convention by its Law dated May 31, 2017. In addition, Azerbaijan participated in the horizontal assessments conducted within the framework of the CETS 198 Convention in 2018-2022.
