The Egmont Committee convened for its latest meeting on April 17-18, 2024 in Canberra, Australia. Hosted by the Australian authorities, the meeting focused on strategic issues stemming from decisions made during the 2024 working and regional group meetings held in Malta earlier this year, and in preparation for the upcoming 30th plenary session scheduled in Paris.
Representing the Financial Monitoring Service, Mr. Fuad Aliyev, Chairman of the Egmont Group Membership, Support, and Compliance Working Group, participated in the discussions.
The members of the Egmont Committee discussed the main strategic issues arising from the decisions taken in January this year at the 2024 Working and Regional Group Meetings in Malta and in preparation for the 30th plenary session to be held in Paris.
It should be noted that at the recent meeting, the Egmont Committee adopted a decision unanimously to hold the next intersessional meeting of the Committee in Baku in 2025. Members also attended an information session organized by the Fintel Alliance in Sydney to learn more about the public-private partnership initiative developed by Australia's financial watchdog and the advanced information technology used in the analysis.
The Egmont Committee continues to serve as a cornerstone in fostering collaboration among financial intelligence units worldwide, striving for more effective measures against financial crimes.
