Joint training held for religious communities

On September 28, a training session was held at the Institute of Theology on "Obligations stipulated by the legislation on AML/CFT in the activity of religious institutions" with the jointly organized by the Financial Monitoring Service and the State Committee for Work with Religious Institutions.

The training served the purpose to inform religious communities about their responsibilities on the field of AML/CFT and the application of new requirements of the legislation, as well as advanced international practice in this field.

Fuad Aliyev and Samir Mammadov, experienced specialists of the Financial Monitoring Service in the relevant field, spoke about the obligations of religious organizations stipulated by the legislation in the field of AML/CFT, property legalization and terrorist financing schemes through religious institutions, and cases of their abuse during the collection of donations. Apart from these, detailed information on preventing the abuse of religious institutions was was delivered to the attention of the audience.

In conclusion, the queries raised by the participants were addressed.

It should be noted that a total of 20 representatives from religious communities participated in the training.
