The Conference of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism (CETS no. 198) held its 15th meeting on 9 and 10 November 2023.
In a significant recognition of his dedication and expertise, Mr. Azer Abbasov was elected as a member of the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties for the second time. Simultaneously, he assumed the role of the head of the delegation representing the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The CETS 198 Convention, signed on May 16, 2005, in Warsaw, aims to foster international cooperation and mutual assistance in investigating crimes, as well as the search, tracing, discovery, freezing, arrest, and confiscation of proceeds derived from criminal activities. The Republic of Azerbaijan, demonstrating its commitment to combatting transnational crime, ratified the CETS 198 Convention on May 31, 2017.
Notably, Azerbaijan actively participated in horizontal assessments conducted within the framework of the CETS 198 Convention from 2018 to 2022, further solidifying its dedication to the Convention's objectives.
