On October 29, 2024, a seminar on “Suspension Powers of Financial Intelligence Units” was organized by ECOFEL in Abuja, Nigeria.
Nurlan Babayev, a professional expert in AML/CFT from the Financial Monitoring Service (FMS), participated as a trainer in the event. During the seminar, participants explored operational, legal, and ethical challenges related to the exercise of suspension powers by financial intelligence units. The event also featured interactive discussions, where participants exchanged best practices and insights based on real-world investigations.
The seminar brought together nearly 40 representatives from 23 financial intelligence units across the Western, Central, Eastern, and Southern African regions under the Egmont Group, emphasizing the collaborative approach to tackling financial crime challenges globally.
