Financial Monitoring Service Holds Online Training for Religious Institutions on AML/CFT Compliance

The Financial Monitoring Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in partnership with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, organized an online training for representatives of religious institutions on “Obligations Arising from the Law on Combating the Legalization of Criminally Obtained Property and the Financing of Terrorism.”

Leyla Baghirova, Head of the Protocol and Public Relations Division at the Financial Monitoring Service, delivered a detailed presentation on the responsibilities of religious organizations under the Law on Combating the Legalization of Criminally Obtained Property and the Financing of Terrorism and the Law on Targeted Financial Sanctions. The session also covered FATF recommendations, terrorism financing risks, and key indicators to consider when accepting donations for non-profit entities.

Arzu Khalilova, Head of the International Cooperation Division, highlighted the obligations of religious institutions under the Law on Targeted Financial Sanctions and emphasized the importance of integration with the relevant electronic information systems.

The online training was attended by nearly 100 representatives of religious organizations from across the country and concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage actively with the presenters.
