On April 29, 2025, the Financial Monitoring Service and the State Tax Service jointly organized an awareness training on anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) for a broad group of obliged entities.
The objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge of reporting entities’ representatives on current legislative requirements in the AML/CFT field, investigative matters, and risk-based approaches, as well as to support the implementation of effective control mechanisms. The session was conducted in an interactive format, featuring presentations and discussions based on practical examples.
At the opening of the event, participants were welcomed and briefed on the objectives and significance of the training. Emphasis was placed on the importance of enhancing awareness among obliged entities with respect to existing legal requirements. It was further highlighted that ensuring full compliance with these obligations throughout 2025 is essential, and that sanction mechanisms will be enforced following the awareness-raising efforts.
Presentations were delivered by experts from the Financial Monitoring Service, Zarifa Hasanli and Fatima Mukhtarova, covering the application of customer due diligence measures, essential verification information, and minimum requirements for internal control programs.
The event concluded with a Q&A session during which participants’ questions were answered, feedback and suggestions were acknowledged, and further insights on pertinent topics were provided.
More than 300 representatives of reporting entities operating in the fields of finance, audit, and taxation participated in the training.
