On 6 July 2025, a meeting was held between Mr. Zaur Fatizade, Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Service (FMS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Ms. Elisa Ferreira, President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The meeting focused on the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and FATF, including its regional body MONEYVAL, as well as opportunities for future engagement and collaboration.

Participants also discussed the special side event jointly organized by the FMS and the Egmont Group in November 2024 in Baku during COP29. The event was dedicated to the financial dimensions of environmental crimes and highlighted the importance of financial intelligence in addressing emerging global threats.

Preparations for the Egmont Group Plenary Meeting scheduled to take place in Baku in July 2026 were also a central topic of discussion. The FATF leadership was formally invited to attend the event.
