Coordination Council Addresses Key Issues in Combating Illicit Activities

The latest meeting of the Coordination Council in the field of combating the legalization of criminally obtained property, the financing of terrorism, proliferation financing, convened on December 28, 2023. The meeting, conducted in accordance with Resolution No. 404 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 21, 2020, focused on strategic discussions and updates.

Council members gathered to exchange views on pressing issues related to the comprehensive efforts against illicit activities. The discussions aimed to foster collaboration and devise effective strategies in line with the regulatory framework outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the meeting, Mr. Zaur Fatizada, Chairman of the Executive Board of FMS, delivered a significant update to the Council. He provided insights into the mutual evaluation report accepted within the framework of the 5th round evaluation by the MONEYVAL Committee of the Council of Europe. Fatizada's speech shed light on key findings and recommendations from the evaluation, highlighting the Council's commitment to adhering to international standards in combating financial crimes.

The Coordination Council reaffirmed its dedication to proactive collaboration, emphasizing the importance of continuous efforts in the fight against the illicit activities outlined in the Council's mandate.
