Mr. Fuad Aliyev, Director of the Cooperation Department of the Financial Monitoring Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was re-elected as Chair of the Egmont Group's “Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group” during the Group’s 31st Plenary Meeting and Working Group sessions held in Luxembourg on 5–10 July 2025.
Established on 9 June 1995, the Egmont Group is an international platform that facilitates secure cooperation and exchange of financial intelligence among Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism. The Group currently brings together FIUs from 181 countries.
The “Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group” is one of the Egmont Group’s key structural bodies, tasked with ensuring that FIUs operate in line with international AML/CFT standards and adhere to the Group’s membership criteria.
Mr. Aliyev was first elected to this position on 3 July 2023. His professional performance and leadership during his initial two-year term were widely recognized and commended, paving the way for his re-election.
As Chair, Mr. Aliyev will continue to play a direct role in coordinating strategic priorities of the Egmont Group, overseeing the membership process, and contributing to global decision-making on matters of international financial intelligence cooperation over the next two years.
